I am spoiled with choices here don't even know where to start with. You have a beautiful blog with great taste in fashion.

  • I have purchased the quilted denim biker. I am so disappointed, the fitting is completely different. I have other bikers, and they fit great. This is very large, especially at the knee. And very long, 117 cm, not really 103 cm. The cut of these new bikers is quite different from before (made in italy). Probably because they are made in japan.

I was a Balmain fan, but since Decarnin left I can only see a few pieces really worth the name the brand took thanks to Cristophe. And frankly speaking, the more the time goes by, the more I feel like I am looking forward to seeing the new Slimane collection from SL.

    Ciao from Italy!
    Excelent blog!

After Trying On almost all the different fits and buying couple of pairs I figured the sizing and fitting of the jeans and pants.
The ones with the biker cut are not as slim as the last collection, however the fit which is called Slim is the Famous Balmain Skinny fit. In Short, Biker cut not skinny most likely straight cut, and Slim cut is the true balmain fit.
I also noticed that the waist line sizes are bigger this year so pretty much I am 32 balmain jeans last collection and now I fit a 30!
But Make sure the pair You tryin on is stretch so u dont buy the wrong fit!

One hint about the velvet Jeans and the leatehr Biker they are not stretchy as the other regular Balmain jeans!! dont try to hard to fit in a super small size!! take the good one

    • That is very informative. I am very interested in the green leather biker pants from this season. However, I am very confused with the fit as there are several versions I presume in the same design and colour but differentl fit. It looks like super slim on SSENSE, but on FarFetch it says it is straight cut, so strange. Do you remember how does it fit? I am wearing true size 30 on the Balmain coloured denim from
SS12. I also notice the 3D denim is two size smaller and double zip is one size smaller. It's so confusing, I want to buy them online but the sizes are not consistent.

I will have to wait till September try the collection here. Balmain always comes late in Melbourne Austrralia. Which version did you get?

    Hi,

the poster above is correct. The slim is more like the Balmain skinny. Biker cut is more straight cut.

I have already 4 pairs from this collection so i can give you a sense:

    1. The suede biker jeans: Im normally a 32 (sometimes a 31 but rarely) and the 31 fits good. This jean will stretch ALOT. I am glad they sent both sizes for me to try. If you are a 30 I would suggest a 29. Note: once you wear them you will keep coming back to wear them…even in 70 degree weather.

    2. The slim stretch biker with dirty finishing. I LOVE this jean but I chose a 32 and its too big in the waist. I think a 31 would be good but I honestly think I can fit a 30. the 32 is that big in the waist. If u look at the waist it is cut a little different than the biker cut. its a bit more wide.

    3. The Moleskin Wax Coated Biker Jeans: I tried a 32 and 31 and went with a 31. It just fit neater, slimmer and it does have some stretch though not a lot. Beautiful jean

    4. The quilted biker: I tried a 32. I could probably do a 31 but I decided to keep it. It will be my one "loose" jean. The poster above is correct. Its a bit bigger in the thighs and knees. More straight cut.

    5. Biker Pants: This is not on your photos but its a slim biker of wool and elastic. It is SLIM! I had to size UP in this to a 50 (34). But it is a beautiful pant.

    • You are right, I am a size 29 from a size 30. I took the measurements off SSENSE, they have the green leather biker pants there. I usually wear size 30, and from SS2012, the measurement I took from my pair of biker jeans was 40-41cm for size 30. Looks like I will have to look somewhere else to buy the size 29. :(

The moleskin wax coated biker jeans is my second choice, but I need to see this in person since it is a new biker design. Like the SS2012 new biker, its not as famous as the classic versions.

I know which biker pants you are talking about that is not in this post. The 100% wool version, which is the most expensive biker pants. I really like the SS2012 version because the FW2012 is quilted and I still prefer the ribbed classic style on the knee than checks. Lovely pants for sure…

    Hi,

I am considering getting the biker quilted denims. Still unsure of the sizing, but I am a size 30 in Louis Vuitton and Armani, and these are both low rise straight cuts… I have a few Versace pairs, some skinny, and my size there is 31. I really like True Religion straight cut and have endless pairs, all 29, after a day of wearing they stretch comfortably…

What size should I go for with these Balmains? a 29 or 30?
I am also interested in the Biker waxed jeans, slim cut, Antracite color… sizing here? BTW, Im a very sporty, well bulit type, so my thighs are very tight in slim cuts….

    • I recommend that you try the exact Balmain jeans you want in store. Balmain jeans sizes are not consistent in waist size and cut like other designers. If there isn't a Balmain store or carrier at your area, the best solution is to check the product measurement on MR PORTER. MR POTER currently has the quilted version but in blue wash, but I presume the cutting applies to the same dark blue black waxed quilted biker jeans. It is always better to buy from MR PORTER because they do free returns, but the down side is, the smallest size they carry is size 30.

Hey Maurice, was just looking through some of the older posts and noticed the Balmain Fall Winter 2012 Biker Waxed Jeans in Anthracite.. they are sick! I've never seen them before but they beautiful…

I'm not sure if it's even worth trying to find someone that has them and is willing to sell them…. it would take months!

    • I never seen this pair on the used sale as well, :/ but glad you took the interest to checkout my archives. Must be an eye opener to see these historical collections :)
