Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt

Givenchy Rottweiler T-Shirt

My Givenchy Rottweiler Print Cuban-Fit T-Shirt from Pre-Fall 2014 vs. Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt from Pre Spring 2015.

Every so often a new iconic Givenchy graphic motif print comes along for every pre-collection that I just can’t wait to dress in, and this was one of them.

This is the third generation Givenchy Rottweiler Print T-Shirt, preliminary incepted just over a season ago since the beginning of Pre-Fall 2014, read more about the Givenchy Rottweiler Print Cuban-Fit T-Shirt story here.

When the first generation Givenchy Rottweiler Print T-Shirt appeared in Fall Winter 2011 menswear collection, it was a game changer. There hasn’t been anything as captivating like it, and where Givenchy lead were as followed. It shortly became an icon associated with the designer, and remains one of the most recognizable prints enjoyed by renowned celebrities to aspirational consumers like me in the luxury fashion universe.

So it is fair to say that our expectations of the latest incarnation are pretty high, and looks wise it lives up to it. The changes and designs towards the new state-of-the-art Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt aren’t dramatic. Its notorious aggrandize photographic of an enraged Rottweiler remains as proposed in the past and an added metal brass star studded feature, referenced from the prominent star coding identity of the French fashion house that was established by creative director Riccardo Tisci. Gives the new Givenchy Rottweiler a slightly more aggressive look and an upmarket appeal, are an evolutionary facelift rather than a revolution development. After all, why change what works?

But of course what made the Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt such a success is that those magnetic looks are matched by great wearable ability. Once again, Givenchy has delivered the goods and like its predecessor it’s good fun to sport in. Although the star studded feature has made it significantly heavier than the traditional Rottweiler due to the 100% brass neckline applications. But when in comparison with the similar Givenchy Red Fighter Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt offered in Givenchy Pre-Spring 2013 menswear collection – both oversize t-shirts cast equal star coding applications. However the black glossy marble star appliqué accents found on the red fighter print t-shirt are far lighter in standard but much less durable which certainly falls into the high maintenance category. Not long ago, one of the star application on my t-shirt has broken after a few wears, nonetheless Givenchy Customer Service was more than willing to deliver a replacement from Paris within a few days and has definitely made me a very happy customer.

There is only one fit option for the Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt, the designer has not announced any further plans to produce a slimmer ‘Cuban-Fit’ or regular fit series at the moment, unlike the non-studded Rottweiler series which gives you an option to choose a variety of signature fits. This implementation is mainly derived from the nature of design, an oversize fit is mandatory on all powered star studded or stitched application on graphic print tops, not limited to t-shirts. An oversize design not only presents a higher visual appearance, but yield a distinctive statement, although I know that the Cuban-Fit option will prove a popular choice for many owners. Despite this, I really do like the oversize Columbian-Fit, I think it lets you feel and enjoy both the design presence and the fit more. There’s something really satisfying about achieving an oversize t-shirt that has a loose fit at an open scene. But the Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt isn’t just a masterpiece mainly for visual aesthetic purposes, this is a top you can dress in, enjoy, and stand out for most occasionally.

All Givenchy Rottweiler Print T-Shirt variants should hold their value. The Givenchy brand continues to sell well in the second hand market, taking the ferocious Rottweiler print to be an ongoing quintessential choice for most vigorous and loyal customers, and that is something you should always consider. The new the Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt may not look dramatically different, but the changes that the designer made evidently means it’s not going to lose its claim to be crown of the designer t-shirts category any soon. As far as I am concerned, it should be the benchmark what statement designer t-shirts need to be like. Once you’ve learned to appreciate its unique visual aesthetics, most of the alternative Givenchy graphic or other similar luxury designer printed t-shirts will seem like they are from the dark ages.

Should you consider a statement making top for this upcoming Spring 2015, the Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt should be the topped of your wishlist and definitely a clear choice to invest in. Most of the Givenchy Rottweiler Star Appliqué Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt popular sizes ranging from XXS to XS has already been sold out within a week, however some retailers are having luck restocking these sizes. As for now you can find smaller sizes at Lane Crawford or Forward by Elyse Walker. Rumour also has it that Givenchy is planning a similar released of a future star studded feature on the popular Givenchy Elmerinda Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt for the forthcoming Givenchy Pre-Fall 2015 menswear collection, as earlier spotted on Kanye West a season ago at the Austin’s SXSW music festival.

Hey maurice its nice to see you reviewing another piece of Givenchy,
just wondering which one of your star applicated t-shirt was broken ?
for older items like the jetfighter t-shirt, will they send a replacement if it is broken ?
I mean they can't be having more stocks of the older items in store, even in Paris, right ?

    • Hey there, it was the Givenchy Red Fighter T-Shirt. The star application is made out of plastic, and it broke when one of my hangers hit it. They are really fragile because the ends are thin and are stitched on to the fabric, unlike the Rottweiler which is machine studded.

Givenchy has tones of spare parts, but you need to request to them and prove that you own the authentic merchandise, they will advise what documents or proof is needed before they decide to send you the spare parts directly free of charge.

I heard you can take it to the local boutique too, but not sure whether they will assist to repair for free.

Love the Givenchy stars rottweiler look. You carry the outfit very well!

    • Thanks Milex, always a great pleasure to see you around :)

Amazing tee, so jealous as all the XXS has been sold out!

    • Yeah, XXS is a pretty rare size. I usually take size XS, but because the Rottweiler has less details compare to a full on print like Shark & Mermaid, it is recommended to take one size smaller than usual.

Hope you will find luck in getting this t-shirt, it is really worth it!

I am extremely jealous …TT This tee with rick owens adidas is a divine!!!

    • Yes, they pair very well together. I should I have bought this pair of sneakers much earlier in August when I was in Melbourne. Didn't know it was going to be so popular, the new ones for SS15 looks hideous imo :S

    • Pants? Are we the same size? I think it varies, I wear size 30, but now I gained a little weight so I might be a 31 now. What pants are you buying?

    Hey Maurice

I've recently been reading your blog and have fall in love with this Givenchy rottweiler stars t-shirt that you own.

I've tried finding size XS online and apparently it is all soldout everywhere….

Can you recommend where i am still able to purchase this design in a size XS??

    Thanks!

What brand and size are the black shorts you are wearing with the Givenchy Rottweiler shirt with the metal stars? Is it still available for sale? Thank you

    • Hey Reza, you will be surprise… they are from H&M. I think you can still find them in stores…

Regret for the late reply and appreciate that you have left your question on the blog post.

      Thank you. They look great

  • Hey,
nice Blog! I've bought some weeks ago the Givenchy "Jesus is Back" t-shirt. I'm not quite sure of the meaning of the print. So it would be nice if you could explain it. :)

    Thank you!

    • Hi Haris,

Riccardo Tisci has been known to create many subjects that has an esoteric meaning. One of the subjects that Tisci focus is religion, religion has always been a big part of the designer's DNA.

The text "Jesus is Back" seeks relevance in the hearts of the consumers who has faith with Jesus and relates to the Christian religion. The statement is speculated to promote love, peace and faith.

Maurice, what do you think of the women's t-shirts from the pre SS15 and the main collection ? Have you ever tried or even bought them ? I saw a lot of guys are buying women's t-shirts particularly the Bambi and the bambi woman/madonna/shark combination, and I couldnt resist myself to get the Bambi even though I already have the old one in cuban fit. At first I thought it was going to be really long on the bottom like most Givenchy's usual women sizing (its size XS anyway), but at a surprise it fits me perfectly. Are these women's sizing smaller than men's columbian fit ? Because the last time I tried a men's columbian fit in XXS, I felt like it was bigger and longer.

    • Yes, they are definitely smaller (slimmer) as compared to menswear. You will usually need to take a size smaller to achieve a regular fitting.

I never bought anything from the womenswear collection, as I believe these pieces will be translated to menswear later in another season, much like the Bambi tee.

However, if you really do like the Givenchy Madonna, Bambi, Shark print, then I would recommend you to buy it. But this depends how much you desire it.

Hi Maurice . Just a simple question , why is the one with metallic star tee label in white and the other in black ? sorry about the stupid question .

  • Hi Maurice,
Just a simple question. Do all the Columbian Fit T-shirts have the pretty much same ACTUAL SIZE? In another word, do the Star Appliqué Rottweiler and non star Rottweiler all have a 126cm chest? (Do they fit people all the same?) Sorry for the confusion on my words.

BTW, really nice blog! I really enjoy reading!

    • First, you must understand there are two fits for Givenchy t-shirt. 1. is Columbian Fit which is oversize, you need to take 2 sizes smaller otherwise it will look very loose. 2. is Cuban Fit which is more of a regular than slim, you need to take your true to size.

As for all Columbian-Fit, the sizing across the range are the same, whether there is star application or non. For Rottweiler, there is currently 3 styles available, the first is as what you see here – a Columbian-Fit with stars studded, the second is Columbian-Fit with no stars, and third is a Cuban-Fit with no stars.

      Hope this helps!

    I saw two UK numbering (9 or 9,5) for size 43 EU/IT
which would you chose? or is on the label?
Maurice, or blog is the best
    Thanks

    • UK 9.5 is US10.5 and EU43.5. They fit true to luxury designer size, but as compared to Nike's sport sneakers, they fit half size smaller.
