Givenchy Fall Winter 2014 Shoes and Accessories

5th June 2014
Riccardo Tisci presents the latest Givenchy Fall Winter 2014 shoes and accessories collection innovated from the core roots of basketball culture. The collection tells a story of the creative director’s youth who was obsessed with the world’s most popular and widely viewed American sport, despite being raised in Italy.
Earlier this year, Tisci had enjoyed a successful collaboration with sportswear giant Nike to launch his exclusive Nike + R.T. Air Force 1 sneaker collection, it was the perfect time to synergize the initial elements into the present Givenchy Fall Winter 2014 menswear collection which shares the preliminary inspiration.
The creation takes on an urbanistic atmosphere that integrates the ideology and conception of modernism Bauhaus movement with basketball design that ranges from the equipment itself towards the game of rectangular courts. Each elements are infused with careful precision and a hardcore fanatic twist. The end results of the collections produces a wide selection of footwear and accessories that are not only transcended from the basic principals, but designs and materials of the basketball were taken further by incorporating into the collection itself.
The traditional basketball’s eight grooves and orange panels were reconstructed into the luxury collection. A great example is the Givenchy Brown Star-Embossed Basketball Nightgale Bag that features the signature star-coding embossed and leather material replicate textures of a basketball, the distinctive dissemination of eight panels highlights the product design with central black stitched and print cross grooves. Other noteworthy items taken from a basketball’s characteristics includes the Givenchy Brown Star-Studded Detail Tyson Leather Sneaker and matching Givenchy Star-Studded Detail Brown Basketball Leather Belt, highlighting the silver star-studded detailing and worn-out textured orange colours to re-enforce the core collection.
If I was only given a chance to select one item out of the entire upcoming Givenchy Fall Winter 2014 shoes and accessories collection, it will be the Givenchy Brown Obsedia Beaver Fur Rucksack. This rucksack has an indescribable complex characteristic unlike anything i’ve seen. Just by looking at it through visuals has drawn my curiosity of it’s inner construction. It is made out of heavy beaver fur tied in with a distinctive matte finish Obsedia hardware, also made available in a lanyard seen earlier on Instagram.
Although the Givenchy Fall Winter 2014 Bauhaus cross basketball collection might not be one’s preference, there is a diversified selection of products available from clean black and white schemes sneakers to ever-classic pony-hair embossed textured leather accessories that offers subtle timeless elegance in streetwear movement. Start shopping your inspiration at LuisaViaRoma as they are currently open for pre-order since yesterday, the Givenchy Fall Winter 2014 menswear collection will expect delivery by 15 October 2014.

That GIVENCHY OBSEDIA NETTING-DETAIL BLACK LEATHER RUCKSACK
Givenchy Fall Winter 2014 is lovely.
Not sure about the runway bag, i guess it is hard to use them daily more of a gym bag but who will pay that much for a gym bag, maybe NBA players will get them.

    • It depends how you see it, there are lots of people out there who are obsessed and in love with basketball. I'm sure you will know a few NBA fanatics in your life, those are the people Givenchy are trying to reach out this season. It's quite a large segment, and a few of them don't mind paying this much for a dedicated collection that could relate to their passion and lifestyle. We must broaden our view and see the bigger picture :)

So I can say, this collection may not be for one's preference but for others will be gold for them.

PS this collection is way into the NBA games and scene, i think it will hit the USA market massively.
Specially those players, you will see them at the playoffs wearing all these stuff.
    Marketing at its best.

    • And also to those who love basketball, not just NBA players. Though I have to be honest with you that i'm not quite attracted to this collection too as it doesn't reflect my lifestyle.

    Maurice,
Do you think if i wear this shirt under my sweaters from Givenchy, it will look nice similar to the styled looks at the LVR pre-order.

Or shall i stick with a plain white one without the stars details, for it will look too much (i mean here Givenchy and stars all the way).
    Tx

    • Yes, it will look very nice. I used to have this in black with the red embroidery from FW12 and wear it under a jacket. You will get lots of people asking you where your shirt is from. It is perfect for layer underneath any sweatshirt since it is white colour.

The cuban fit is out at LVR.
I was looking for the grey color one.
Do you think the cuban fit will look better than than the oversized one.
I think the older Rottweilers looked better.

    • You are right, the first version – painterly effect Rottweiler is much nicer than the photo print. This is because many other brands has replicated this concept ever since 2011. Therefore t-shirt with large photo prints of animals no longer felt exclusive. People will defineitly stare at your t-shirt, but they wont give any compliments, maybe they will likely ask you in return why is the dog so angry?

This is what i've experienced with my first Rottweiler. In comparison to Birds of Paradise, wherever I go, everyone says its a beautiful print. That is the difference :(

Thank you for your comments Maurice.
Since you are a Givenchy enthusiast since years you see things in a different way.
Earlier in the blog i saw your comments regarding the Rottweiler sweater and you suggested the purchase of the grey one.
In the black the print is dissolved where as in the grey it looks way more solid (i totally agree with you).
I think the wool Rottweiler is a great one too and it is a new addition to the Rottweiler line (i think they never released a Rottweiler wool sweater before).

It even looks hot with a suit.

Hello Mr Maurice. theres a new rottweiler print tshirt in Cuben fit on LVR.
It wasnt there on the regular update. 370 EUR asking price is also pretty reasonable to me, thinking like – they could also sell it fpr 700 and it would still sell out 😉

  • What happened to the net polo t shirt? Did they produce it for selling?

    • Show me which one you want!

    • LOOK 23/56 on the Givenchy Fall 2014 Menswear official site. I believe it is these 2 items layered together.

BROWN PIQUe COTTON POLO WITH BASKETBALL PATTERN

    • They don't make a lot of this, or either the buyers are not interested in getting this piece. It's an experimental piece, you won't find such pieces online unless there is a retailer that specializes in this niche.

Maurice check out this short from Paul Smith, it will look nice with Givenchy clothing.
It is inspired from there shorts, low crotch and wide legs.

Buy the elasticated toggles at waistband are very exposed.

    • Yes, I saw it earlier too this season. It is the perfect shorts to pair with Givenchy! No doubt about it.

Theres no need to not consider it because of the exposed elastic toggles, as if you will be wearing it with an oversize t-shirt that will cover up this feature. Strongly recommended!
