Just ‘WOW’! I have to admit, I am very impressed with Olivier Rousteing’s Balmain Fall Winter 2013 menswear collection. Seriously exceeded my expectation more than 10/10. You may ask why so, to be honest, I felt that Balmain Spring Summer 2013 menswear collection was not great. It was good, but there isn’t anything that truly excites me like what I have felt from the previous collections, we call it chemistry. I felt that the Spring Summer 2013 collection was simple, nothing was unique that could stand out of a surprise, except some pretentious pieces like the raffia jackets.
Moving on to the latest Balmain Fall Winter 2013 menswear collection, there is huge improvement over the previous concept. Olivier Rousteing take us on a journey inspired by eastern culture with a twist of martial-art shapes and Japanese kimono variations meets French couture and an added ingredients of the Balmain DNA, mainly we’d like see it as ‘The Balmain Japanese Biker’. I love the wraparound tuxedo belt against low-crotch trousers (surprisingly I was looking forward to buy one since a few weeks ago, coincidence much?) and not to forget those gorgeous short jackets are to die for, as always.
What I am looking forward most is the Balmain Dark Turquoise Biker Trousers (Look 26), the Balmain Double Breast Blazer (Look 31), and how about the entire look 23 & 25? Hmm, so tempting indeed.
