MR PORTER Starts Global Spring Summer 2013 Sale!

24th June 2013
Just came back from a weekend trip at Singapore, it was so lovely but I retained myself from buying anything (because im a full-time online shopper as you can see…) . The Givenchy store at Paragon Mall, Singapore current offers 40% off their Spring Summer 2013 collection, most distinctive pieces are on sale including the Pre-Spring 2013 Fighter Plane and Paisley. I also had the chance to see the Givenchy Pre-Fall 2013 and some Fall Winter 2013 collection in person, this includes Doberman, Polo Shirt with Red Stars, String Tone by Tone Stitched Print Sweatshirts and many more. So if you are reading this from Singapore, do check them out.
Did you know that MR PORTER International Sale has just started today? I initially presume that their sale would suck, had a thought that all items would be around 30% off for the first two weeks. However I was wrong, and most of the best items starts at 50% off! Be quick and start shopping now at MR PORTER!
“The early bird get’s the right size!”

I just bought my most most wanted pair of shoes from MR PORTER just seconds ago! This pair of Thom Browne White and Grey Suede Pebble Longwing Brogues in popular size 9 that I was pitching myself to buy at full price at the start of this season, thankfully I did not. It was only £311.66 including custom tax and duty after discount from an outrageous £623.34! This is pricing is to be shipped to Malaysia, it would be even cheaper to shop from Singapore or Australia. So worth it. Here are a few of my humble selections that I think are a steal. My advice is, best to start adding to your carts straight away. Good luck and I wish your sizes are still available! Finally they started the international sale.
    Been waiting for too long.

  • Anonymous

Btw Maurice what do you think of the new brands that are getting popular through Instagram.
Specially those involved in tees with prints.
Many are out there like JV Melbourne, Chiron London, Underatedco, and Hold'em Denim.
Did you get anything from them.

    • Nope, I see them as lower priced alternatives when compared to luxury brands. Although some say the quality is quite good, and the range of styles they offer can be customized like Hold'em. But I don't buy them at all, because my money is always spent on Balmain, Givenchy, Christian Louboutin and Thom Browne. So I have no more money to spend on smaller brands in general… hahahahaha 😛

    • Anonymous

Aha you are right, i think they can not achieve the quality and durability of a Givenchy Tee for example. Nowadays, you see people wearing a piece from Givenchy dated three years back. This is an extremely positive point for Givenchy, the designs they do never fades away easily even with the basic tees because you can not wear an all over printed tee on a daily basis.
Among the above new brands i named, they have some interesting pieces and maybe i might consider some tees from them in the future. I said maybe.

    • Givenchy is a good investment, especially those main designs. It will be worth the price from my own opinion. I am secretly hoping Spring Summer 2014 will be promising, like 'Birds of Paradise'. In time these collections will go up in price because of the good design and rarity. It will last a long while, I still wear my BOP shirt and tee till today, and people never fail to stare and comment.

    • Anonymous

Definitely and this was my point. Their designs live for a long time. At the end it is Givenchy.
I feel that their spring summer fashion show will be amazing.
I hope that we can see the show live, for their website is still under construction.

    • Plus there is always resell value in Givenchy, you won't even loose that much if you buy a good design through careful selection. If you spend on cheaper brands, that is another story whether it is a loss or gain, im not sure depends how everyone uses it and see its value at the end of the day.

      I can't wait for it too. ;D

    • Anonymous

Absolutely true. Did you get anything so far from the F/W collection.
I like the All over doberman print, but it is not available till date only pre-order.

    • You mean the Doberman digital painting print? The popular pre-collection pieces will only come in together with the main season, as always like previous season's Fighter print did not came in with the Fighter Plane and Paisley collection.

I didn't preorder anything yet. Still hunting for Spring Summer 2013 stuff, cuz of the good discount. Hehe, so far there is nothing in FW13 that I really want till the extend I will do a preorder. Maybe later on, I have too much clothes at the moment. Lol

    • Anonymous

Yes the Doberman Digital Painting Print it costs around 550 euros @ Luis via Roma.

    • If you like, just order it. There will be a time where it will go out of stock, and people will be desperate to look for it.

Btw did you see the Rick Owens F/W Geo basket sneakers with pony hair.
    http://www.lindelepalais.com/en-US/product/17587
In your wish list i can see the two tone leather Geo Basket Sneakers.
    Which one you prefer?

    • Pony hair sneakers ftw! Just dont let anyone step on them, they are pretty delicate. :)

    • Anonymous

Yes they are delicate, but i like them. Rick Owens is one of my favorite designers, the only drawback is the price. Lol

    • Yes, they are pretty expensive. Dont think they are worth $1,300. Maybe $600-700 eh? lol

    • Anonymous

      Yup, expensive.
The leather one is more durable and cost 630 euros.

  • Anonymous

Thought of telling you SSENSE started 50 % on Rick Owens shoes.
    Finally lol

    Hi Maurice;
I want an advice please :-( there is a leather biker on balmain website on sale and the leather legging too. I hesitate btw them. http://www.balmain.com/en/shop/d-biker-cuir-nervure-balmain/ how does it size? Is it slim?
    http://www.balmain.com/en/shop/d-calecon-en-cuir-plisse-homme-balmain/. What do u think?

    • Wow, I never seen those before. Usually when they are in euro sizes, like 44, 46, 48. They are true to size. so 44 is a 28, 46 is a 30, and 48 is a 32. However, the beige leather biker from SS14 seems to fit a little bigger. Best is to stick to your own sizing. And if you are half size like 31, take size 30 as they will stretch.

    • Anonymous

I don't know if I should send it back and take the 46 (I'm scared after the 46 will stretch and it will be too big) instead because the lenght is ok the waist is ok but a bit tight but the knee are so tight because where it's ribbed the leather is more thick..

    • If you say you can't walk in it, then return it but do keep in mind leather will stretch. The size 46 is quite big on the waist, given that it is suppose to fit size 30. But it measures slightly bigger than that.

So if you think you seriously cant wear it then return. No point owning something you can't wear.

I have a pair of biker jeans that are like what you just explaind about the knee area. It has something inside the material, which is very hard. My legs are pretty skinny and i struggle to wear them. Walking in it is fine, but sitting down on a chair or even getting into my car is a total nightmare, i can't bend my legs lol. But i didnt get rid of them, till today they are still with me.

    • Anonymous

I will keep it, I call Balmain store they told me it's ok and it will stretch. I also have a Balmain biker like you said is it the biker moleskin black from fw12? I struggle to wear it too

    • Okay, keep it. That is what everyone told me when I was deciding to get the leather biker. Good choice and im glad you bought the right size.

Mine was the waxed corduroy biker, it is seriously a nightmare to wear. I hardly wear it, yet I don't feel like selling them since they are quite rare and beautifully finished. :( So I guess I have to suffer in them, either way let's be honest – Balmain biker jeans are not comfortable at all.

  • Anonymous

I take 27 or 28 in Balmain so I know which size I'll take it's just about the cut! Is the biker slim or no? I hesitate between the two…

    • They are both slim, but leggings will be more fitter. Personal I will take the biker instead of the leggings, looking at the price wise. I see more value in bikers. If you have money, buy both!

    • Anonymous

Hey!!! I took the biker one in 44 ! But omg it's so tight at the knee, I usually take 28 or 29 jeans, do you think it will stretch? Because I can nearly not walk with.

    • If you can't walk return them. Leather will stretch for sure, but depends how you can take it now. If you think its so uncomfortable, then return it and try a bigger size. But the difference is only the waist which will be 1-2 sizes bigger, the knee area will be around 2cm bigger at each side (front and back) if not mistaken.

    Hi Maurice,
I am a big fan of Drop Crotch Style pants.
Any recommendation where i can find a wider range.
I found this one at Mr. Porter http://www.mrporter.com/product/361223
But i am looking for more variations and jersey pants too.

    • Checkout Luisa Via Roma, they just added a few drop crotch pants this week. Including Balmain, but that cost a fortune.
