Balmain Fall Winter 2015 Showroom Sneak Peek

13th February 2015

At an age when fluid fashion state and exuberant crystal rhinestone outerwear seems less practical for the daily wearer, downsizing from a high glamour runway collection is prevalent when it comes to practicality. The Balmain Fall Winter 2015 menswear showroom unveils a shrouded commercial collection for the frequent wearer scheduled for the upcoming retailer stock intake.

Global buyers who attended the bi-annual showroom presentation day have exposed the first photographs of much of the unseen collection that is due to surface in-stores from late August 2015 onwards. Enclosed within the commercial collection features a standard range of conventional variety at a seasonal approach, Balmain gave its trademark biker look a minor cosmetic facelift and new style lesson which seems to be taken from the former collections.

Familiar adaptations inclined for fall winter has return this season includes a Balmain Black Nylon-Panelled Padded Down Jacket with a slight double-zipper tweaks at the front and severe changes to the fabric, seen earlier available in a khaki military green interpretation at MR PORTER for Balmain Fall Winter 2014 menswear. As teddy jackets are frequently associated with successful style making, the designer came up with a Balmain Navy & Burgundy Navajo-Embroidered Varsity Wool Jacket, a productive approach by extending the concurrent Balmain Spring Summer 2015 menswear blueprint to the forthcoming season.

Spotted from the jeans category are a series of momentous distressed and destroyed biker denims that compromise Decarnin’s notorious styling, bound to thrill the Balmain enthusiast and due to popular demand, a pair of Balmain Blue Washed Destroyed Denim Biker Jeans made available at 18cm in Fall Winter 2013 is offered in a similar styling at a skinny 16cm silhouette. This pair is predicted to sell out within a weeks, including the new zip-embellished elements on the biker sweatpants. Besides the conventional revision and aside from the vigorous runway collection, the designer is exploring a brand identity strategy by labelling its house logo and name across a series of tops and footwear collection. Some pretentious pieces includes “Do you speak Balmain” and “Balmain Army” hash-tags in metallic text printed across t-shirts, which seems largely targeted at mainstream consumers. Personally, I felt this is not a wise maneuver as it is contrast to the Balmain values, while elements should continue to remain noble and spirited from traditional codes. What are they thinking with splashing the Balmain logo or font onto their sneakers!?!? The other pieces look nice but this is not a direction I think they should be taking… Cheapens the brand and style!

In fact, I almost feel like some of the pieces look more like Pierre Balmain clothes than first line Balmain

    • Most likely modelling after competitor brands, much like Saint Laurent's SL and Givenchy's Tyson sneakers that has the branding at the front.

But I can't agree more that branding the t-shirt cheapens it in a tacky way. Although I am not a fan, I prefer the Givenchy series with less obvious branding, like the 'war of love' or 'god bless Givenchy'.

those hashtag tshirts are cringe worthy. i remember seeing stuff like that at the flea market back in 06'.

    • You are absolutely correct, they look no different that those Dior or LV branded replica t-shirts. It such a shame that Balmain is offering these :S

    yo thanks for the updates….
    balmain is becoming tasteless….
it's time for ORousteing to make some nice clothes….

    • He makes some great clothes, you can see from the commercial collection the brand is currently offering. But I felt its growing too ambitious, offering all kind of styles including the runway just to capitalize on sales, it used to be difficult to acquire and exclusive in limited quantities… I prefer it this way. :(

  • So far this collection sneak peak seems very undesirable. Take the branding off the hi tops and they pass. Nice cable knit in red also.
I look forward to seeing more of the collection to finally remark on, but so far quite underwhelming.

    • This is just a very small part of a complete collection, I am sure there will be much more desirable pieces when it hits the store, just like FW14. :)

I'm sure the collection will be very nice… It just wound me up to see big branding on the sneakers like that…. I'd have forgiven them if it were a subtle heat stamp, but even then, it's just not needed.

I can spot Balmain sneakers a mile off… and that's what special about the designs… you could tell without having to search for the branding.

Maurice… in the look book, some of the guys are wearing a jean, which has this strange velvet shimmer on them… you think it's mole skin or somthing? Or are they waxed and the pics give off a shimmer?

    • I believe they are pure velvet, some has leather panel insert, but majority are actually sweatpants. You can tell from the ribbed legs cuffs.

Photo 9 – the biker jeans. Isn't that a rip off from Saint Laurent? The high-tops are hideous.

    • Hmm not really. because Balmain has been making destroyed denim ever since Decarnin's era. Nevertheless Saint Laurent has restablish the destroyed trend. :)

Is the SS15 balmain black waxed jeans as heavily waxed as the one in 2011?Which year is the black waxed biker jeans that is very popular? Was it 2011?

    • If not mistaken it was Spring Summer 2010, there was a partial waxed biker in black which was super popular and highly sought after. But during Spring Summer 2012 when Rousteing took over the brand, he designed an extremely waxed coated biker in skinny 16cm fit, it was produced in small quantities due to the brand makeover by the new creative designer.

I managed to purchase it from a local retailer. You can see it here

      http://drblogspot.blogspot.com/2014/03/balmain-double-breasted-wool-gabardine.html

From the above Spring Summer 2015 sneak peek, I would say the biker you are referring to is similar to the SS10 version, which is partial waxed and distressed.

    • shin123

i was actually talking about AW14 balmain black waxed jeans on LVR and balmain.com. Is that also partial waxed and distressed?

    • If you are referring to this pair

      http://bit.ly/1vrFOdd

Then yes, it is partial waxed and distressed.

    • Are you referring to the non-biker washed jeans?

    • Anonymous

Yes refering to the non biker jeans

    • Hmm…generally Balmain hardly makes these because they are not as sellable compared to its rival Saint Laurent. The last time I saw a pair that I wanted was in FW11, they were known as the Balmain 3D Dirty Denim Jeans. But of course Balmain dont make them anymore… sadly…

I am thinking of buying Balmain jeans maybe the destoryed one, But I want to know more about the Quality, is it worth the price ?

    • That depends how you define value? :)
