Balmain Spring Summer 2015 Showroom Sneak Peek

27th July 2014

Racy Geometry concludes the new colour block Balmain Spring Summer 2015 menswear collection. Rooted from the seventies sportsman icons of downhill skiing, motorcycle racing and Formula 1 contributes the energetic spring collection in prime team colours of navy, red, and white is the current championship distinction presented in a unique patchwork contour.

“Balmain is about sexiness and sport” said Olivier Rousteing as the models marched through the showroom in their open-toed mountain gladiator-boots, see the Balmain Spring Summer 2015 menswear presentation day. Jogging pants with athletic stripes and motocross padding and zippers are often matched the cotton fleece and leather perfecto jackets or hoodies worn over a crisp white cotton shirt is the signature trend for the beginning of 2015.

This collection presented is ahead of it’s time, individual pieces projects a striking silhouette and could potential make a great outfit if kept simple. Rousteing overlook the formalwear and military dress with his new neatly biker jackets and cardigans in cotton fleece jerseys, and strengthen the atelier with ponchos and piped blazer beaded in intricate Navajo patterns.

Paint attack print skate sneakers and colour-block classics high-tops are the updated footwear for the future, while Decarnin’s biker style jeans has been reinvented with blue washed knee-ribbed distressed details. Desirable pieces includes the Balmain Red Biker Belted Panelled Cotton Fleece Jacket paired with off-white ribbed biker sweatpants. I criticized a lot this collection, but every hundred pieces Balmain is achieved by finding one that saves.
As this first jacket is wonderful!
Is there more pics about it.

    • Are you looking at the Balmain Lace-Up Detail Leather Zipped Biker Jacket?

      yes, the first pic

    • I'm afraid thats the only picture I have at the moment. Will update more in the future.

It totally reflects Olivier's style. It wasnt that bad actually it's quite good but I think it's forgettable.

    • For the main collection like the navy and red pieces, yes its going to be just a one off trend. But the Navajo jackets here will be remembered. Question is, how many of us will get to enjoy the privilege of owning one :(

who will get to enjoy the privilege of owning one

who have to save, around, roughly six thousand U.S. dollars to get buy it

    • I think it will be more than just 6 thousand USD, looking at around 15K euro.

I critiqued this collection quote harshly as well. Honestly, my views have not changed much. I have a very large Balmain collection, and will take pride in wearing some of my past collection peices next summer, while moving onto Lanvin, Dior Homme and Saint Laurent, perhaps Balenciaga and Alexander Wang for some more edge.

This collection just seems like an odd attempt to blend childhood memories or sports into high fashion. It's not quite art, like say Thom Browne…it's more like Tommy Hilfiger on Steriods (with all the blue/red/white).

    • I totally understand where you are coming from, it hurts to see a new direction that is not relevant to the Balmain DNA. Rousteing's strengths lies on the perfectos and blazers, he should let someone else design the rest of the collection who is more skewed to the Decarnin era.

These colour blocking pieces may not last through this season, but there are some tri-tone sweat jackets that looks quite good such as the BALMAIN RED BIKER BELTED PANELLED COTTON FLEECE JACKET (see pix on top), I guess if I had a Ferrari this would be my first buy of the season!

Even though I'd never wear anything Balmain, those embellished jackets he offered in his previous collections were nice for what they were; but I am absolutely not here for this hideous tacky crap.

    • The new beaded blazers and jackets are nice too, no?

  • Anonymous

    Not his best collection

  • Hey Maurice, How are you doing?
I hate everything of this new collection and i can not understand that the house of balmain let this happen.
This has nothing to do with the Balmain vision.
I buy Balmain since the beginning and did we not like the loose oversized fit from the sweaters,t-shirts,hoodies?
Now everything is changed and we look like gay captians of the loveboat :-)
    no thanks
Let us think how good it was under Decarnin his style was so far ahead.
This colours i really hate and even if he make jackets of 15k i would never wear even if i get it for free…i don't wanna look like a warchief indian big bear.
Sorry but i bought the very first waxed Balmain black biker it was awesome….now the bikers look like cheap painting job.
Please it is time that Rousteing maybe go's to Versace there he can make it big time….not Balmain.

    • I'm pretty sure you will buy a few pieces from this collection despite your comment, just like how you told me earlier that you didnt like Givenchy anymore because lots of Asians wearing. But whenever I see your Facebook, you're wearing all these brands LOL!

  • I buy from every brand a few pieces i use to buy almost everything from Balmain, but those days are over as i don't like it as much as i use to do.
And givenchy maybe some few shirts, but i buy Juun.J and Off-white as well :-)
What i mean is by Azians is that they buy everything from Givenchy and even Woman collections….i find that to much for me as we can see so much good brands coming up with stunning things.
I think Rousteing is not going the right way….so from buying a 100% i would say i buy 15% Balmain and what happend with the orginal waxed black jeans 5 years ago…they where stunning!! i notice some real change in the t-shirts and hoodies normaly they whree more longer now its tighter and shorter. so its not the collection i do not like but also the models that i don't like too much..

    • Olivier Rousteing may not provide the fashion that it once used to be, but I felt he was daring enough to push the boundaries of the brand.

Although you may not see a lot of featured menswear that you may like, he was smart enough to retain the Christophe Decarnin classic collection and they are constantly improved over time.

Asians like Givenchy because the brand looks good on them and they truly appreciate its design, even when some of them has no sense of style. But it makes us feels exclusive to own it because of the price. Asians has always been very materialistic, it has been our nature since most of our countries has suffered in the long past.

But anyway, you always tell me that you dont shop Balmain or Givenchy, yet when I always see your profile in Facebook, these are the only brands you wear besides Christian Louboutin and Balenciaga. Lol, so why are you still complaining if you truly love these brands?

  • i buy only the items that i love it used to be more but now i look only for the nice pieces.
I think now teh sizes are true to size for the bikers, but i like them tight so its better.
    P.S. i wear Balenciaga :-)
