Givenchy Multi Floral Print Panelled Cuban-Fit Sweatshirt

18th March 2014
My affection for the Givenchy Multi-Print Panelled Sweatshirt was discovered incidentally by a visit at the local Givenchy boutique, it was merely a browse as I wanted to survey the collection for sale. Until I saw the Givenchy Multi-Print Panelled Sweatshirt that has endeavour my curiosity with it’s charming unorthodox integration of assorted prints, I had to give it a try. The little boutique also carried the Givenchy Multi-Print Columbian-Fit T-Shirt that has a lighter composition, not quite to my liking as the print perceived generic and simplified on a t-shirt, unlike the Cuban-Fit Sweatshirt variant that came with the resilient black ribbed neck, waist and cuffs feature felt much more extensive. Although the t-shirt variant is much more conventional for summer months ahead.

Shop the look: Maurice Lim is wearing the Givenchy Multi-Print Panelled Cuban-Fit Sweatshirt, coincidentally paired with his new Givenchy Camouflage Stripe Star-Print Collar Stay Shirt, a Givenchy Black Wool-Blend Drop 8 Single-Breasted Suit and his conspicuous Christian Louboutin Freddy Spikes Mens Flat Shoe!
At a swift glance on the Givenchy Multi-Print Panelled Sweatshirt, the wide eyes open catches the myriad of pink floral roses, delicately blossom through the striped panelled disintegration. Shortly dominating by the layering navy & orange camouflage, amalgamate rose camo, leading through the middle by the donning classic white and blue stripes, while ending the distribution by the repetitive camouflage rhythm once again and tartan-plaid constitution. The orchestrate formulation of this masterpiece result it with looks to die for, you really have to see it in person as the commercial pictures don’t do justice.

The Givenchy Multi-Print Panelled Sweatshirt has recently been sold out at Luisa Via Roma since the end of February 2014. The last size available in the hippest boutique in Florence was a size S, speaking of which this sweatshirt is characterized as a ‘Cuban-Fit, true to size’, despite this claim, the chest width is actually much more bigger than the description. I am wearing a size S as a true size M, the chest width here measures at 56cm as opposed to the standard fit of 51cm that could be found in the Givenchy Navy Star Patch Cotton Sweater. Although I wouldn’t recommend taking one size smaller as the neck width is true to size.

Givenchy Camouflage Stripe Star-Print Collar Stay Shirt

24th February 2014
During it’s first inception, the Givenchy Pre-Spring 2014 menswear collection was once regarded as a complex disaster, the meaning behind ‘favelas’ did not convince the many taste of confident men wearing cross-prints. But for now, the masculine prints interpreted in a feminine manner seems to have won the hearts of many fashion consumers and is deemed a successor over the late Givenchy Pre-Fall 2013 and Fall Winter 2013. I’ve even seen a shopper recently in his mid 50’s rocking the Givenchy Camo Flower-Print Panelled Shirt! Which sometimes makes me wonder whether i’ll still be wearing fancy clothes when I reach that age. This collection seems to be enjoyed by almost everyone because of it’s unique thematic unlike any other.
There are a few items that are selling out quick too, so be generous to grab while you can as the popular print will not stay and likely sellout in an instant, such as the Givenchy Bambi Print T-Shirt earlier spotted in women’s FW13, Givenchy Star Floral Print T-Shirt that depicts it’s details from the famous Birds of Paradise collection, Givenchy Floral Shark & Mermaid T-Shirt that triumph from the Givenchy Pre-Fall 2011, Givenchy Pink Velcro Rose Print Shirt that was initially detested and has became the latest icon of all floral prints, Givenchy Embroidered-Star Contrast Jersey Shirt that was taken from the Givenchy Fall Winter 2012, and my latest prediction of the Givenchy Camouflage Reverse Print Shirt including it’s navy and orange camo accessories which will soon be the next hottest print for this season — just to name a few interesting items since this is quite a huge collection just for the start.

I’ve started early in this season by acquiring a few key pieces since everyone is so keen in shopping early before the main Spring Summer 2014 even begin — who knew that the Givenchy Spring Summer 2014 menswear pre-order is also selling out as fast as the Pre-Spring collection? My earliest acquisition was the Givenchy Bambi Print Cuban-Fit T-Shirt, and soon after was the Givenchy Palladio Chain Sandals. Currently both pieces are sold out everywhere except the sandals are still in stock at Farfetch, limited sizes though that fits EU44 and above. And now my most recent purchased from Givenchy is a very unique piece that is just available at Farfetch. I’ve only seen this print design in-store much earlier and fell in love with it at first sight. Contributing to my desire were also because i’ve missed out in purchasing the first version that was available in the last Givenchy Fall Winter 2013 menswear collection – the Givenchy White Star-Printed Gold Collar Stay Shirt. Which has also returned in 2014 with a revised version in white colour printed collar-stay instead.

It’s me wearing my new Givenchy Camouflage Stripe Star-Print Collar Stay Shirt from the Givenchy Pre-Spring 2014, my classic Givenchy Black Wool-Blend Drop 8 Single-Breasted Suit mainly worn for work and the old Christian Louboutin Freddy Spikes Mens Flat Shoe. The shirt has a complicated name virtue by many of it’s exclusive characteristics – if you take notice on it’s generous offering. I’ve decided to call it the Givenchy Camouflage Stripe Star-Print Collar Stay Shirt, a long name indeed. This pretty pretty cotton poplin shirt is printed in light blue camouflage like it’s navy blue x orange and desert print cousin variation, but with changes that are far more dramatic. One of it’s main features are the twin front spread collar detail with a special collar-stay insert, much like the common traditional business shirts but with a reverse insert detailing. The collar-stays are camouflage printed as the same blue of the shirt with a tiny black star print at the edge of every tab conveying the label’s signature star motif. Unlike the predecessor version, it is a regular-fit that fits slightly looser at the waist than the slim-fit in Givenchy Fall Winter 2013.
The Givenchy Camouflage Stripe Star-Print Collar Stay Shirt is an eye catching piece that remixes contrasting camouflage and stripes, the white and light blue tones work equally well with it’s distinctive collar design and will compliment with most dark outfits. But it is much more of a dress shirt than a casual one, as it has a longer than usual shirt-tail hem which requires to be tucked in rather than having it untucked. I’ve also receive many comments from my colleagues and strangers regarding it’s unique collar and pleasant eye-catchy camouflage print.

This is a great shirt with many highlighting details to offer in a thoroughly modern affair, a classic silhouette that receives an unprecedented camouflage motif printed with additional contrast stripes and an exposed colour collar inserts. Resulting in a classic being transformed into a dynamic leading conception unlike any other shirt design. Though the other Givenchy camouflage prints are priced not by much of a difference, but really when it comes to luxury clothing, we all know it is always worth paying that little bit extra to upgrade to the finest. And do you know what? That perfectly sums up this new Givenchy. :)

Givenchy Palladio Chain Detail Black Leather Sandals

27th January 2014

This is the new Givenchy Palladio Chain Detail Leather Sandals, one that I’ve manage to acquire in person during a short holiday trip to Singapore earlier this year. It didn’t felt too long ago during the first initial pre-order release at Antonioli last November 2013, shortly followed by Luisa Via Roma, SSENSE for early 2014 and in the past week Bergdorf Goodman has just received them in stock. Read about the earlier pre-order post of the Givenchy Palladio Chain Sandals Spring Summer 2013.
The Givenchy Palladio Chain Detail Leather Sandals is the new benchmark in men’s fashion footwear. It’s first inception was showcased in June’s Paris Fashion Week ― Givenchy Spring Summer 2013 menswear, almost three seasons ago. The collection presented at that time had two variations in style, a double chain low-top sandal and a triple chain high-top sandal that came in either a black or white patent top leather. Unfortunately when the official collection hit the stores in late March 2013, the runway chain sandals were no where to be found. Only prototype units were made available for runway showcase and further editorial review that were not for commercial sale purposes. Read the entire story below after my first ootd pictures! Will be followed by some fancy footwear shots, another ootd and some beautiful product shots!

Click click click to read and see much more information and photos as below!

Fast forward two seasons ahead, it is already the beginning of Spring Summer 2014, and Givenchy has finally released the chain sandals to the retailers they once promised. If you are lucky enough, the nearest Givenchy store or stockist may have them by now! I bought these around two weeks ago when I decided to make another short trip down to Singapore city. I think it was faith that brought me to purchase this pair of sandals, if I did not considered my trip to drive down I would probably have never own these sandals. And that it wasn’t into my interest to visit the Givenchy store at Paragon, a mere thought suddenly triggers me while I walked by Ngee Ann City, reasoning that I might as well pay them a visit since I was nearby.
When I saw the store at the mall’s entrance, the first item I noticed on their window display were the shimmery chain sandals! My heart raced in beat, I knew from that moment that it had to be mine, no matter what it takes I must get them! In an instant I rushed to inquire about my size, a size EU 43, UK 9, US 10… that is what I asked for. The sales representative told me I was very fortunate to have visited them in time, as they had just received the chain sandals the night before, and was also told that 3 pairs has already been sold since the early store opening hours! Givenchy Singapore stocks them in two pairs per size from EU 40 – 44.
There is one thing you should know about this pair of sandals before you buy them. They do not fit true to size! It was to my surprise when I tried the size 41 by mistake and it fit me well, though the second chain strap felt just a bit tighter, but I could wear them. The size 43, felt like a size 45 which is almost two sizes bigger than the normal fit! Who would have known that without first hand experience? I bought the size 42, though it felt like a size 44 because I am somewhere between a 43 – 43.5. In comparison, the 41 and 42 felt little difference. The 42 is a bit looser while the 41 is a little tight as I mentioned. After a long comparison trying all three sizes i’ve decided to take the size 42 instead.
In personal experience, the Givenchy Palladio Chain Detail Leather Sandals felt very comfortable when compared with my trust old Burberry Gladiator Black High-Top Sandals from the Spring Summer 2011 menswear collection (See the Burberry sandals at my Givenchy Bambi Print Cuban-Fit T-Shirt). The only let down I would say is the moment to get my feet into the sandals, it has a rear zip closure which requires force to fit into the sandals, therefore characterizing the nature of the rear quarter permanent leather creases. The sporty sole provides the perfect combination of lightness and support for long urban walks, a hybrid designed to last by a reputed Italian rubber outsole manufacturer ― Vibram.
Finally there is that exterior design, there is no denying these sandals is a bit different, some would say it is just plain ugly. Do you know what? I’ve actually felt the same way when I first saw them earlier in the SS13 fashion show. But the looks has actually grown on me and that’s probably because I was charmed by the way it feels and the way it manage to entertain second looks. And I think for this pair of sandals people generally wouldn’t mind paying so much for it’s distinctively unique design and desirable brand. My Malaysian office colleague said they looked weird and wrong in so many ways, but yet pretty and beautiful, an eccentric art piece that questions minds unlike anything in the marketplace.
If you are a tourist who is currently traveling in Singapore, you may be eligible for the additional GST refund, which knocks $56 SGD ($43) off the price – the Givenchy Palladio Chain Detail Black Leather Sandals for Pre-Spring 2014 menswear cost from a little over $1,180 SGD ($925) in Givenchy Paragon, Singapore City. You can find better prices in the United States, standard pricing across in-store and online retail for just $860. My best advise that I can give you now is to buy them first while stocks last as they are limited in production. Yes! Givenchy learnt that overproducing will eventually despise consumer’s desirability. Shopping links as below as always!

Givenchy Bambi Print Cuban-Fit T-Shirt

6th January 2014

The Bambi Overview

The Givenchy Bambi print was originally designed for Givenchy Fall Winter 2013 Womenswear. It’s first inception was presented at the Fall Winter 2013 Paris Fashion Week during the beginning of March 2012. During the pre-launch period, there were numerous speculations in the fashion world that the new Bambi print is bound to be crown the successor of the late iconic Givenchy Rottweiler from the Fall Winter 2011 Menswear. Read much more details below about the Givenchy Bambi Print T-Shirt after my OOTD photos!

Givenchy Bambi

The Meaning Behind Givenchy’s Bambi

The Bambi print is much more than a half-cut deer from a 1942 Walt Disney film. It is a meaningful print that could be interpreted in many stories. The first observation shows a Bambi, a cartoon character that has characteristics of being curious, naïve, shy, brave, docile, innocent, gentle, childlike, noble, tough, handsome – most of these characteristics are personal experiences throughout one’s childhood, a preconscious from our deepest memories. While an adolescence grows up to become an adult, they have secretly kept these preconscious memories within themselves to avoid immaturity judgements by others while developing unconscious thoughts. These self-taught or early influenced secrets can be define as ‘skeletons in a closet’, hence the wooden closet illustrated on behalf of the Bambi print. The dark wooden closet houses the darkest thoughts of one’s unconscious, such as fear, unacceptable sexual desires, immoral urges, selfish needs, shameful experiences, irrational wishes and violet motives – that defines the distorted naked woman print framed in the wooden foreground.

Therefore the Bambi print concludes an everyday human life that has travelled from childhood towards adulthood with these personalities, experiences that has built their character. A normal personal that wears an acceptable face of being innocent and shy ‘The Bambi’ while retaining one’s darkest secrets and thoughts in life ‘The Naked Woman’. The Bambi is also highly inspired to reflect Riccardo Tisci’s life experience about his childhood and what he has been through. Watch the below video at the end of this post by Vogue Voices about creative director, Riccardo Tisci life’s inspiration at Givenchy.

Givenchy Chinese New Year 2014 Special Edition

24th December 2013
Luxury spending in the Chinese mainland market is expected to cool down by just 2 percent in 2013, when compared to the previous 7 percent last year and staggering 30 percent in 2011 – according to Bain and Co’s annual China Luxury Goods Market Study published recently. The total luxury spending of 116 billion yuan ($19.1 billion) in the country represented just 7 percent of sales worldwide. The impact derived from the government crackdown on graft and extravagant spending is starting to have an effect, as is evident in the precarious drop in the sales of luxury watches and menswear, the two categories that featured prominently in gift purchases.
