Balmain Military Embroidered-Patch Short Sleeves Shirt

5th April 2014

Short sleeve shirt has never been quite my cup of tea, but who knew that this Balmain Military Embroidered-Patch Short Sleeves Shirt had so much more potential then it was first showcased in the Balmain Spring Summer 2013 menswear collection. To tell you the truth, the SS13 was my least favorite collection, but mixing these individual essentials with statement pieces will always tick all the right boxes.

For this weekend, Maurice wears the Balmain Military Embroidered-Patch Short Sleeves Shirt with his favorite Balmain Blue Dirty Stretch Biker Denim Jeans and the ancient Giuseppe Zanotti Tri-Colour Double-Metal Bracelet High-Top Leather Sneakers that still looks mint after all these seasons! If I could recall, the last time I wore a short sleeve shirt was in high-school, almost a decade ago. The same shirt was worn by Jay-Z, and for those of you who are still looking for the biker jeans that I am wearing below, they are currently available at SSENSE.

Anyways, this was a quick write up while i’m packing away for a short holiday trip! Will be leaving to Japan in an hour’s time and will only be back to publish more by 14 April 2014! At the mean time if you feel inspired to start shopping, checkout the latest arrivals of the Balmain Spring Summer 2014 menswear at Luisa Via Roma.

Givenchy Palladio Chain Sandals

23rd November 2013
When it comes to Givenchy footwear it is almost impossible to acquire the runway series as most of the footwear collection barely went into commercial production ever since Givenchy Fall Winter 2012. Read and see about my own Givenchy Chain Sandals that I acquired from Singapore!
First there were issues with the contracted manufacturer, defects among the first few consignments that has been returned, production problems with materials and the classical reasoning with cost pricing issues ― we’ve heard all too many rumors and has been constantly disappointed throughout the seasons. Most of the runway featured footwear has been purchased through exclusive invitation and private connections with the principal brand, otherwise kept away in the ever growing warehouse archives, or probably ended up at a factory outlet with a pretty discount.
But for now, Antonioli has just released a very special pair from the Givenchy Spring Summer 2013 Menswear Collection. After a year it has been finally made available by the online retailer, larger and popular sizes has been seized much earlier this week, sorry to inform you this late :(. But be quick as there is only a handful of Asian sizes left! You may be one of the lucky Cinderella to own this pair of masterpiece and I bet there will be lots of eyes glued towards them. Priced at a reasonable $983 which includes custom tax and duties with free express shipping to United States. This rare pair of statement chained-detail sandals with white rubber sport sole is definitely an exquisite entrée for the beginning Spring Summer 2014. BUY BUY BUY NOW…
Update: These Givenchy Metal Chain Leather Sandals are currently available for pre-order at LuisaViaRoma.com for $860. In arrival no later by 15 February 2014, more details below. BUY IT NOW

Balmain Raffia-Insert Leather Monk-Strap Shoes

15th October 2013
It has been a long while since I bought a pair of designer shoes. I kind of miss the feeling of being excited, to receive from post and open up a white box to see a fresh pair of Balmain’s that is meant for me. Speaking of Balmain, this season’s Fall Winter 2013 collection is not quite as exciting, there isn’t much in the current collection that catches my impulsiveness besides the Balmain 18CM Blue Destroyed Denim Biker Jeans. I have a gut feeling that a huge crowd once followed Balmain has switched their taste to Saint Laurent and other leading luxury brands.
To be honest, I didn’t really thought about buying this pair of Balmain Raffia Monk-Strap Shoes. My recent purchases have been things that I consider ‘fashion pieces’ – my first priority was to get my dream pair of sneakers, the Christian Louboutin No Limit Python Strass Sneakers from the Spring Summer 2013 collection. After a few months of searching high and low, I spotted a pair that was going around $2000 but I was stupid enough to wait and presume that the seller would lower the price after two weeks. It was unfortunate that someone had grabbed it and was considered a lost for me, that I didn’t took up the opportunity to buy it when it was clearly good value for money.
Above: Both received within a week, a pair of Balmain Raffia-Insert Leather Monk-Straps and Valentino Camouflage Rockstud Shoes – both from Spring Summer 2013. Follow my updates on Instagram.
So I gave up on the Christian Louboutin sneakers and started to look into my personal style. What has really kept me going after all these years that I could easily pull off, and the answer was clearly the brand – Balmain. Till today, I still have a soft spot for it and believe that a good pair of shoes will serve my collection well and bring repetition to wear. So far this is my forth pair of Balmain shoes and I haven’t regretted a bit. The reason why I chose it over all the other shoes that I could have gotten is because of its modest design and also that it is was made to match with all my Balmain wear.
The thing about style to me is that I live with certain principles, I believe that a good style has to consist a balance –  between statement making and being modest at the same time. The Balmain Raffia Monk-Strap Shoe is a modest pair that will go very well with a statement making Balmain Biker Denim Jeans. The shoe has it’s own unique characteristics – an attractive yellow gold raffia upper vamp, wrapped over black calf-skin leather with a tarnished buckle in a monk strap design, the flat signature crepe sole with wooden welt to finish it’s entire style. A lovely piece that I will be wearing all summer with rolled up jeans, I was glad that it was a good purchase and will make my money’s worth.

Balmain Blue Dirty Stretch Denim Biker Jeans

13th July 2013
After six months since it’s first inception at Vertice London and LuisaViaRoma, I have finally succeeded to acquired one of the most desirable Balmain Homme piece from my Balmain Spring Summer 2013 wishlist.  I thought I would never be able to get it anymore because it is always out of stock in my size, especially at this time around when the spring summer end of season sales is coming to an end.
Fortunately one of my readers from France was kind enough to sell me his. He even took a step forward to ship it to me in advance before I even paid him! Just to build our mutual trust since he doesn’t have any selling history, I felt very grateful and lucky that I could get this pair of jeans and also the faith and trust he has on me. He said that the reason why he’s letting go was simply because it was too loose at his waist despite it is already the smallest size available.
I am wearing a size 27 for the Balmain SS13 Dirty Blue Biker Jeans, it’s true size is 29-30 which fits very large to size. When measure flat, the waist measurement for size 27 is approximately 40.5cm. But because of it’s inner construction of the biker ribbed pattern, at the rear waist and the multiple front pocket construction takes up around 0.5cm. I would recommend a size 28 would ideally fit someone who is a size 30 true to size considering that it feels quite uncomfortable at the lower waist. The inconsistent sizing has been a known issue from Balmain Biker Jeans that are manufactured in Japan since Fall Winter 2012 collection.
The Balmain Dirty Blue Biker Jeans has an extra-slim cutting that is produced in Japan, it has a mid blue colour, technical crafted washed distressed with a dirty brown sprayed finish and gold detailed stitching. It is the mid-level Balmain Biker Jeans that is priced between $850-1200 (varies among countries). The first similar washed biker was originated from the Balmain Homme Fall Winter 2011 collection in two different distinctive styles – the first was the classic biker which shares a lot of similarity like the current Spring Summer 2013 version; while the other is an entry-level jeans called the 3D Worky Denim Jeans. I have been looking for two of these pairs since Spring Summer 2012, but has no luck in finding one in my size. Thankfully it came back in the Spring Summer 2013 collection, and I can now rest my desire for it in peace.
The Parisian house has recently introduce the latest blue washed distressed biker from the Balmain Fall Winter 2013 collection, it is currently in stock and available at MR PORTER and LuisaViaRoma that is comparable with it’s predecessor variant. The Balmain Slim-Fit Distressed Biker for FW13 has a richer blue dye with brighter sand washed finish in the same slim 17cm cutting. According to a reader from France, there are some development changes in the latest biker jeans from FW13. By analysing the data and information provided, I presume that the latest Balmain Biker Jeans are manufactured in another Japan factory as the inner washing label tag colour and design has been revised along with other significant changes, including thicker ribbed and the replacement of YKK zippers over the former Lanfranchi Lampo Italian zippers.

Christian Louboutin No Limit Python Sneakers For Sale

1st July 2013
Possibly the most flamboyant Christian Louboutin sneakers you can buy today. I am currently selling a pair of Christian Louboutin No Limit Python Strass Spikes Multicolour Sneakers on behalf of a friend. These are outrageously famous from the Christian Louboutin Spring Summer 2013 Mens Collection and has been successfully sold out in various popular sizes. The owner is selling it because it is too big for his feet, honestly speaking I really wished he had it in my size, these are my dream sneakers and I am still looking forward to own this particular of ‘No Limit’ sneakers one day.
The Christian Louboutin No Limit Python Men’s Flat is a pair of bold and artistic representation of the brand itself – being wild, fun, energetic, imaginative, creative, bizarre and luxurious all at the same time. These are the ultimate signature shoes which features various distinctive designs that are collectively unique characteristics to Christian Louboutin. The Spring Summer 2013 No Limit model features gold metal spikes, multicoloured Swarovski crystal rhinestones (possibly the best part), zebra fur tongue, rear python leather, inner yellow ponyskin vamp with embroidered eyes, a white midsole and signature red soles. They are brand new with tags which includes, original box, documents, shoe pouch and everything as show from the detailed photos taken below except the fur couch – in a size 41, UK7, US8 in true to size.
The asking price is $2,950 USD including Paypal fees and express shipping to anywhere in the world you want. Ships out from France. The owner is open up to offers, so please be reasonable and we will take your price into consideration as long it isn’t ridiculous. Interested and serious buyers only, do contact me at ask.drblogspot@gmail.com or you can reach me by Whatsapp or WeChat at +60123397492.

Please do note* that the below model has a slight difference when compared to the manufactured model above. The ponyskin shoe tongue is yellow instead of zebra stripes, while the zebra stripes are located at the inner side vamp. I am still not sure whether this is a manufacturing mistake, as most of the owners received the model above (currently selling here) instead of the displayed model at Christian Louboutin website (below).

Thom Browne White Grey Suede Longwing Brogue

27th June 2013
It has been a long while since I last shop a pair of expensive shoes. My hands were itching for the past few months and i’ve been eyeing on this pair of Thom Browne White Grey Suede Longwing Brogue since the day I saw them on SSENSE, this was back in late February, and since then I had been chasing SSENSE to put them up for sale as soon as possible before I was leaving Melbourne.
Source: MR PORTER – Thom Browne Suede Longwing Brogues
The first time I saw these suede brogues, I already knew deep down my heart that they were going to be mine – someday, perhaps not when it was full price, I wouldn’t pay full price not unless the sizes sell out like hot cakes – such as the Raf Simons Holographic High-Top Sneakers, which unfortunately missed out and it is currently sold out forever! As I sort of predicted but I didn’t bother looking too much into it as it wasn’t part of my ‘plan’ to spend money on sneakers for this season.
You might be curious about my taste, some of my readers always wonder what style do I usually wear? As you all know I am not normal, I like so many things in this world, I enjoy the beauty of aesthetics that pleases my eyes – just like how I could easily enjoy listening to classical music and punk rock at the same time, there is no end to my taste and it is limitless, I live with an open mind. To be honest, I even look into niche brands like Ann Demeulemeester, Rick Owens, Damir Doma which I think is very unique and interesting although I don’t specialise in these brands simply because of the opportunity cost.
Theres the biker look that I love most which describes my unconditional love for Balmain, also the over-hyped Givenchy pair along with some Giuseppe Zanotti and Christian Louboutins, and lastly the preppy essentials that I wear most of the time. I am sure you wouldn’t believe me since I am all over Balmain and Givenchy in particular, but this is true, I have more Ralph Laurens shirts than anyone I currently know. My whole closet has more than 200 shirts alone, and most of them are from PRL, which means I have to dress preppy although I do mix and match in a rare occasion. My style in conclusion is the look as designed by the designer, so if I am going to wear Balmain today, it is going to be a Balmain look, and this applies to the other brands that I wear.
Once in a while, I will look into Thom Browne, what interest me most about this brand is it’s timeless style. It seems that Thom Browne’s designs are a genius and it belongs to a particular era, a time where it is not forgotten and ever acceptable even after many years everyone still enjoy his style. As you might also notice there isn’t much changes, it is the same look – the crop trousers, tight jackets, short shirt hems, skinny tie, pair along with brogues, what differs throughout the seasons are just themes but these concepts will end up in classic styles offered many seasons ago, just like Balmain Biker Jeans for example. Much like Hedi Slimane, which brought back his similar creations at Saint Laurent after he left Dior Homme.
It is hard to argue what is a good design since everyone has their own opinion and taste which makes us unique in a way. I have been thinking and analysing the trends and styles in the market place, sometimes I wonder whether is it really worth spending $1,500 on a Givenchy top, $1200 on some Balmain Biker Jeans, and $2000 on a pair of Christian Louboutin High-Top Sneakers – you know that wealthy Asian style on Instagram when you hashtag search Givenchy, or Chrisitian Louboutin. To be honest, you will get more looks and respect wearing Thom Browne’s style than the leading luxury trio-designers (Givenchy, Balmain, Christian Louboutin – along with Hermes and Chrome Heart accessories). From what I have noticed by experimenting with a variety of styles when I was in Melbourne.
I never liked brogues that comes with white colour, in some way I felt that it is quite tacky and dated. Whenever I think about white and black shoes, my thoughts goes straight to Michael Jackson for some reasons I still do not know. But this pair of Thom Browne brogues has totally opened my eyes, in some way I would describe it as the perfect white mixed-colour brogue that i’ve ever came across. What I love most is how clever it is designed, the suede white under suede grey textured leather that gives it a good contrast but not a over like white and black two-tone, paired on to a classic wooden-colour sole and the best part is the Thom Browne’s signature tri-colour tab which makes it a distinctive masterpiece (if not, nobody is going to know it is from Thom Browne yeah?). It was like love at first sight, same goes with my first pair of Thom Browne Pebble Brogue when I spot them at Harrolds, the same feeling that I will never forget and will always crave for more in the future. Thankfully this week, MR PORTER has opened their global sale which gave me the opportunity to grab one of these at 50% off! Shipping was quick too, I bought them on Monday when the sale started and just received them on Wednesday. Hope you all enjoy the photos below!
